Yigdal Yahweh & Dan Quayle

Go read this article.

D.A. Carson told a story this weekend about a young missionay family that came to Trinity to pursue some additional theological training before going back to Bolivia. Shortly upon arrival the wife is diagnosed with advanced cancer. She starts to heal, and then the husband is diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer. None of the many prestiguous hospitals even wanted to take his case. He was sent on to the Mayo Clinic and eventually was able to return to class and finish up his dissertation. The wife's cancer comes back. She dies. They have a young daughter. Before going back to the mission field, the man speaks at Carson's church and spent the entire time talking about God's goodness and faithfulness. Then Carson said something interesting. He said that the story is not an example of heroic Christianity, but of what should be normal for every Christian.

I pray that when faced with trials, both small and great I can still say Yigdal Yawweh - May the Lord be exalted.

Am I the only person who misses Dan Quayle? It is sad to think that kids today may not even know who he is. Has any other VP given us so many priceless gems? I think not.

This is just a taste of the genius that was our former VP.

"It is wonderful to be here in the great state of Chicago"
- Dan Quayle, former U.S. Vice-President

"I am not a part of the problem. I am a Republican."

"People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history. "

"It's time for the human race to enter the solar system!"
- Dan Quayle, former U.S. Vice President on the concept of a manned mission to Mars

"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy - but that could change."

"When I have been asked during these last weeks who caused the riots and the killing in L.A., my answer has been direct and simple: Who is to blame for the riots? The rioters are to blame. Who is to blame for the killings? The killers are to blame."

"For NASA, space is still a high priority."

Quote about DQ:

"I don't want to be charged with child abuse."
- Pat Buchanan, saying he did not want to get into a war of words with Vice President Dan Quayle

Seriously...so good. Now many have strived to match DQ's excellence (Dubya), but they simply have not reached his level yet. I hope he makes a comeback.
