The recession seems to have forced stores to up their customer service game. I've been treated nicer this weekend than I am normally used to, even while wearing sweats and sneakers. The lines my roommates and I heard just this weekend alone from salespeople:
1. That skirt would look great on you! (we both know it won't)
2. You've got great hair!
3. Those shoes are so cute! (to old sneakers)
4. Ya'll look like a hair commercial! (ponytails)
The thing is, I am one of those shoppers that enjoys being left alone. As long as there is a kind greeting and an initial offer of help, not much else is needed, or even wanted. Don't follow me around the store! It only makes me want to leave faster.
